Ride the Waves of Krui, Sumatra 2026

March 6 - 13 Sumatra Surf Trip

Where are we heading?

Welcome to Tanjung Setia, the heart of Sumatra's surfing scene and home to the legendary wave, Ujung Bocor.

This world-class surf destination — also a stop for WSL competitions — offers a variety of incredible waves to suit your style and challenge your skills. From the powerful barrels of Way Jambu to the long, clean rides of Krui Left and the remote perfection of Jenny’s (just an hour away), this region is a surfer's paradise waiting to be explored.

This trip is designed for intermediate to advanced surfers looking to push their boundaries, meet like-minded adventurers, and immerse themselves in the vibrant local culture.

Guided by Adi (from Sumatra) and his expert team, in partnership with Island Vision Surf — a creative surf media and travel collective based in Indonesia — you’ll experience the very best of Sumatra’s waves through both adventure and artistry. Their team of professional surf videographers and photographers will be capturing your sessions from land, water, and air, delivering cinematic footage that brings your surf story to life.

Pack your boards, embrace the adventure, and get ready for an unforgettable week in one of the most spectacular surf destinations on the planet. 🌊

Have questions?

Other Things to Do in Tanjung Setia

If the swell is small, we’ll organize alternative activities to keep the adventure going. If the swell is good, there are plenty of options for you to explore on your own.

Tire Rafting in Biha

Experience the thrill of tire rafting down the lush rivers of Biha. Navigate through exciting rapids, surrounded by stunning jungle views. It’s a perfect way to embrace nature and relax.

Waterfall in Krui

Discover the hidden waterfalls near Krui, where you can cool off with a refreshing swim in crystal-clear pools. The natural beauty and peaceful surroundings make it a must-see when visiting the area.

Explore the rainforest on a jungle hike — only if the national park clears it due to recent tiger sightings. If safe, enjoy the wildlife and stunning views.

Jungle Hiking
Bali Village Tour

Just a few villages away lies a hidden pocket of Balinese culture in Sumatra. Many Balinese families migrated here years ago, bringing their traditions with them. The temples and puras you’ll see are unlike anything in Bali — raw, weathered, and beautifully adapted to their surroundings.

Spearfishing or Fishing Trip

Join the local boys for a spearfishing adventure — perfect for those who love the thrill of catching their own dinner (we make a mean BBQ after). Prefer something more laid-back? We can also arrange a traditional boat trip with local fishermen for a few hours of peaceful fishing out at sea — and if we’re lucky, we might even spot some dolphins along the way.

Banana Island Trip

Just a short boat ride away, Banana Island is a peaceful slice of paradise — despite the name, you won’t find any bananas here. What you will find are quiet beaches, swaying tea trees, cacao plants, and plenty of space to unwind under the sun.
